Dr. Jacob Kirsch is a shoulder specialist who routinely performs minimally invasive (arthroscopic) and open procedures for various conditions of the shoulder. His expertise is in treating degenerative and sports related conditions of the shoulder, particularly shoulder arthritis and rotator cuff tears. He has advanced training in shoulder replacement surgery, which he performs at the nationally recognized New England Baptist Hospital. He has a passion for treating complex problems of the shoulder requiring shoulder replacement, sports related injuries, irreparable tendon tears and failed previous surgery.

Dr. Kirsch graduated Magna Cum Laude from Franklin & Marshall College as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He earned his Doctor of Medicine with distinction from George Washington University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society and received the Julius S. Neviaser Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan, where he was recognized with a resident teaching award for his dedication to educating his peers. While at Michigan, he also served as a team physician for the University of Michigan Men’s Basketball team for several years. Dr. Kirsch also received advanced international training in shoulder surgery from world-renowned experts in Lyon, France. Dr. Kirsch then completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the prestigious and internationally recognized Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kirsch is committed to advancing the practice of orthopedic surgery though research and practicing evidence-based medicine. He has presented research both nationally and internationally, where he has been recognized with several research awards. Dr. Kirsch has published over 60 peer-reviewed scientific papers as well as contributed to over 13 textbooks and remains actively involved in clinical research. He currently serves as a clinical reviewer for several journals including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
