As a innovative part of our care, our orthopedist in Brookline offers stem cell, platelet-rich plasma and ultrasound-guided injections in our office, eliminating any inconvenience to patients of having to go elsewhere. We pride ourselves in offering many complimentary health care modalities including expert muscle and skeletal therapy from a licensed acupuncturist, Chinese massage therapy and cupping, and cold laser therapy.

The elbow is a relatively simple hinge joint which only allows flexion and extension. The elbow joint occurs at the junction the humerus or upper arm bone, the ulna which is the larger of the two forearm bones and the radius bone. At BSSC, the Brookline orthopedist will carefully examine your arm to assess the scope of your injury. Injuries to the elbow are caused by sports or recreational activities, work-related tasks, home projects, and falls. Most elbow injuries in children occur during activities, such as sports or play, or are the result of accidental falls. The risk for injury is higher in contact sports such as wrestling, football, or soccer, or high-speed sports such as biking, in-line skating, skiing, hockey, snowboarding, or skateboarding. Elbows, forearms, wrists, hands, and fingers are the most affected body areas. Any injury in a child or teen that occurs near a joint may injure the growing end (growth plate) of long bones and needs to be evaluated. Older adults have a higher risk for injuries and fractures because they lose muscle mass and bone strength as they age.

At Boston Sports & Shoulder Center, your Brookline orthopedist will work with you to come up with the best treatment strategy. We understand how difficult every day activities can be when your arm is injured, so we do our utmost to get you fully functioning as quickly as possible. We work with skilled physical therapists to ensure that your recovery includes strengthening exercises and preventive strategies to help you avoid further injury.
